Rueben Rajasingam Photography

Welcome to my photography website. I became interested in photography at an early age in Malaysia, where I grew up. I vividly remember the day my father taught me how to use his old Pentax Asahi SLR while we were trying to take a picture of a beautiful Kingfisher that perched on our fence. I think I was hooked on photography from that day. I am now living and working in Australia and make photographs whenever I can.

I am continually trying to refine my images and ideas in the hope of discovering my style. Therefore as time passes I will be revising, revisiting, deleting, re-shuffling, re-categorizing what is on this website in persuit of that style. I welcome you to join me on this long journey and to share your thoughts and comments with me.

I hope you enjoy the images on this website, as much as I have enjoyed making them.

Skanda’s Studio

I set up this section for my son Skanda, who is now 6 years old. He has shown quite an interest in art and is constantly sketching and also interested in photography. He prefers looking through a viewfinder than the back screen! He says he can hold the camera more steadily that way – Spot on!  When I was young I used to draw and paint – I wish I had some of those drawings of mine. They are all gone. I thought it would be a good idea to document and archive his art work. A marvelous opportunity to watch the development of his style. It is often these early drawings which are spontaneous, fresh and original. It will be his choice if he decides to continue cultivating his artistic side, but I thought I would encourage him as much as I can and preserve some of his artwork for him.

Rueben’s Ramblings

I thought I would include a blog to discuss my images and record my thoughts about them. As a photographer I communicate with imagery so I am not sure how I will go with words. Lets see. You can be the judge.  As the name of my blog suggests, I may have the urge to deviate from its original purpose from time to time and …ramble on…
